High-Performance Triple Glazing Installation
As UK energy bills continue to rise, achieving maximum thermal insulation at home has never been more critical. Triple glazing represents the leading edge in energy-efficient window technology. By introducing a third pane of glass and an additional insulating cavity, triple-glazed units offer outstanding heat retention and acoustic insulation. Window Fitters Ltd provides professional supply and installation of high-efficiency triple glazing.
How Triple Glazing Works
Triple glazing consists of three panes of glass separated by two sealed chambers. To optimise insulation, our units incorporate several advanced design elements:
- Low-E Glass Coatings: The inner panes feature microscopically thin metal oxide coatings that reflect heat back into your home while allowing natural light and solar warmth to pass through.
- Argon Gas Fills: The cavities between the glass panes are filled with argon gas, which is denser than air and significantly slows down the conduction of heat.
- Warm Edge Spacer Bars: Rather than cold-conducting aluminium spacer bars, we use structural foam spacer bars to eliminate thermal bridging around the perimeter of the sealed unit.
- Massive U-Value Reductions: While old single glazing has a U-value around 5.0 W/m²K and modern double glazing hovers between 1.2 and 1.4 W/m²K, our high-performance triple glazing achieves whole-window (Uw) U-values ranging from 0.64 to 0.94 W/m²K. For ultra-low energy and Passive House builds, we supply and fit advanced timber and alu-clad systems-including high-specification brands such as Norrsken (frequently searched as "morsken")-that drop whole-window U-values as low as 0.64 W/m²K.
Market-Wide Sourcing: Quality & Durability First
We can source virtually any window system on the market to match your exact architectural drawings and performance criteria. Rather than restricting you to a single manufacturer, we evaluate systems based on structural rigidity, weather tightness, frame thermal breaks, and long-term durability to ensure your investment lasts for decades.
Acoustical and Sound Proofing Benefits
The extra glass pane and dual-chamber construction create a highly effective acoustic barrier. By using varying thicknesses of glass and cavity widths (acoustic glazing), we can disrupt sound waves and significantly reduce traffic, aircraft, and street noise.
Document L Compliance & Certifications
All triple glazing installations by Window Fitters Ltd fully comply with UK Building Regulations Document L (Conservation of Fuel and Power), achieving whole-window U-values between 0.64 and 0.94 W/m²K-far exceeding the minimum 1.4 W/m²K requirement for replacement windows and the 1.2 W/m²K target for new builds. We coordinate directly with local authority building control (LABC) or approved private inspectors to secure building regulations Completion Certificates for your records.
