Our 5-Step Window & Door Installation Process

At Window Fitters Ltd, we want you to feel confident and informed at every stage of your home improvement. We have refined our installation process into five clear steps to ensure precision, transparency, and a clean workspace from initial contact to the final handover.

1. Initial Consultation and Itemized Quote

Your project begins when you request a free consultation. We discuss your architectural ideas, insulation needs, and budget. Our team will provide an initial, transparent estimate based on your preliminary dimensions or drawings. We do not use high-pressure sales tactics; we provide honest, itemized quotes so you can make your own decisions.

2. The Technical Survey

Once you are happy with the estimate, one of our experienced surveyors will visit your property. Precise measurements are crucial for fenestration because a window frame must fit its brickwork opening within millimetres. Our surveyor also inspects the structural openings and lintels, checks load-bearing requirements, and identifies any local planning constraints. For example, we check if your property is in a conservation area that requires specific frame finishes or sightlines. 3. Sourcing and Custom Fabrication

After the survey, your window and door dimensions are finalized for manufacturing. Here, you have two options depending on your chosen service path:

• "Supply and Fit" Service: We source custom-made frames and double or triple glazing directly from leading UK fabricators at competitive trade rates. This ensures the products meet all local building regulations and carry our long-term guarantees.
• "Installation Only" Service: If you prefer to buy your own window frames or bifold doors independently, we coordinate the delivery dates and prepare to fit your supplied units.

4. Installation Day

On the scheduled installation day, our fitting team arrives in company vehicles. Our priority is to protect your property and complete the work with minimal disruption:

• Preparation: We lay protective floor runners and dust sheets over your carpets and furniture.
• Removal: We carefully remove the old window frames to prevent damage to the surrounding plaster and brickwork.
• Fitting & Insulation: We install the new frames, ensuring they are perfectly level, plumb, and square. We pack and insulate the perimeter cavities to prevent thermal bridging and drafts.
• Sealing & Trim: We apply high-grade external silicone seals and neat internal trims, creating a weather-resistant barrier.

5. Quality Inspection and Handover

After cleaning the work areas, our lead installer will walk you through the completed project. We demonstrate the operation of all security locks, restrictors, and hinges. We also explain how to clean and maintain your new glazing. Once the project is signed off, we coordinate any necessary building control certificates, ensuring your new installation is fully registered and compliant with current UK energy regulations.
